1 killed after vehicle collision on East Truxtun Avenue: BPD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — One person was killed and another is in critical condition after a parked vehicle was rear-ended in east Bakersfield Saturday night.

The Bakersfield Police Department responded to a two-vehicle collision at about 11:14 p.m. on Sept. 28, after a Dodge Durango traveling westbound slammed into a parked car on the north curb of 1200 East Truxtun Avenue. The driver of the parked car was killed and the passenger was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, according to BPD.

Security officers working nearby detained the driver of the Dodge Durango, who was uninjured, until law enforcement arrived. Police say speed and alcohol were possible factors in this collision.

The identity of the deceased victim will be released at a later date by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
