Andy Dalton Sends Six-Word Message to Joe Burrow During Postgame Handshake

The Cincinnati Bengals got their first win of the season against the Carolina Panthers in Week 4. During Cincinnati’s 34-24 victory, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow threw for 232 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

Burrow and Co. went up against Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton, who took over the starting role from Bryce Young after an 0-2 start to the season. Dalton felt for Young’s situation, as he knows what it’s like to get unceremoniously replaced.

After an 0-8 start with Bengals in 2019, Dalton got benched on his birthday. A few months later, after nine seasons in Cincinnati, Dalton was released after the franchise drafted Burrow as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Despite Burrow usurping his job, and the Panthers suffering a loss in front of a home crowd at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday, Dalton, who threw for 220 yards, two touchdowns, and one pick against the Bengals, was nothing but class after the game on Sept. 29.

The 36-year-old veteran told Burrow during their postgame handshake, “You’re fun to watch. Keep going.”
