1 dead after stabbing in Denver on Sunday; suspect in custody

DENVER (KDVR) — Denver police are investigating a stabbing that led to one person’s death on Sunday in Denver’s College View – South Platte neighborhood.

20-year-old dies in Aurora shooting

The Denver Police Department reported on X at about 11:30 a.m. on Sunday that a stabbing had occurred in the area of South Lipan Street and West Evans Way. The area is just south of the South Platte River and a few blocks from Ruby Hill Park.

One victim had been transported to the hospital, the agency announced Sunday morning. The agency also said one person was in custody for the incident. At 8:23 p.m., the agency shared that Patrick Browne, 39, was arrested for investigation of first-degree murder and felony menacing.

At about 7:30 p.m., the agency said the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the case is still under investigation. As of about 8:23 p.m. , the agency said the suspect and victim, a 20-year-old man, did not know each other but had engaged in a verbal altercation that escalated to the deadly stabbing.
