GLAAD Florida: Impacts of a short-lived organization

In 1985, the original GLAAD organization (then known as the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) began in New York as a protest to inhumane coverage of the AIDS crisis by the New York Post. Today, it is a national organization advocating for (among other things) better representation of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Within five years of its start, there were GLAAD chapters across the country. One of these was the Orlando-based GLAAD Florida. Though its scope was statewide, this chapter has made a lasting impact in Orlando.
