Latest power outages reported in West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky from Helene

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – See the current state of power outages across the Tri-State resulting from Hurricane Helene, which swept through the region Friday.

As of 1:30 p.m.:

Appalachian Power is showing a total of more than 34,600 outages in West Virginia alone. Between West Virginia, Virginia and Tennessee, they had a peak number of outages at roughly 281,000. They say that number is now down to about 161,420 outages.

Kentucky Power is showing a total of 801 outages that are impacting at least 12,960 customers in their coverage area, while AEP Ohio is showing 18,700 customers without power across the state. Kentucky Power officials say at the peak of Friday’s weather event, they had more than 44,000 customers without power.

Mon Power is reporting 1,023 current outages in West Virginia, Big Sandy RECC is reporting 752 customer outages in Kentucky, and Buckeye Rural is reporting 6,196 outages in southeastern Ohio.
