DAPHNE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Dr. Drew Pinsky is set to speak at an event Tuesday benefiting the Baldwin County Drug Court Foundation.

The “Remember, You Can Make a Difference” Fundraiser — 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Daphne Civic Center — will include a seated dinner and a brief program to “educate attendees of the program’s successful treatment approach, community outreach, and emphasis on drug education in Baldwin County schools,” a news release said.
WKRG Digital Reporter Summer Poole spoke with Pinsky, who said this is a topic he is passionate about.
“They offered me the opportunity to come speak,” said Pinsky. “The topic is right in my bullseye; it’s stuff I love speaking about: the concerns that the community has and the concerns that I have.”
Pinsky, an addiction medicine specialist, said he’s been working in the field of drug addiction since 1985.
“I’ve seen the broad patterns of approaches to this illness … the shortcomings of our recent history,” he said. “And I’ve got strong opinions and I’m ready to share them.”
