Evansville author and community leader passes away

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — The Evansville author of the Erika Lehmann WWII spy series, Mike Whicker, has passed.

Savannah Wood, the daughter of the cherished Evansville community figure, announced his passing Sunday morning.

Wood also says Whicker’s literary work highlighted the city’s role during the war and drew upon local history to craft his historical fiction series.

It is said Whicker was a dedicated community servant who played a big role in securing the LST 325’s permanent location in Evansville and serving as the executive director.

A Mass of Resurrection is set for Wednesday, October 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
