EVO Pizzaria: Disappointing Experience and High Prices

Last night, my wife and I returned to EVO pizzeria, located at 1075 E Montague Ave, in North Charleston. It had been several years since our last visit, and given the excellent experience we had in the past, we were very much looking forward to our return. Sadly, we were both wholly disappointed.

As a pizzeria, one shouldn’t expect an abundance of ambiance, and indeed, there is none. Unfortunately, the pizza was equally lacking. Let me first address the salad. We ordered the watermelon salad ($12), which was good and plentiful enough for two. The melon was flavorful, and the feta, arugula, and other accompaniments were well-prepared.

It was all downhill from there. My wife ordered a small 12″ meatball personal pizza for $18. Yes, you read that right—$18! There was only one slice on the entire pie that had more than one piece of meat on it. Some slices had none at all.

I ordered a “build your own” pizza with sausage, sweet onion, and garlic for $23. The sausage was as sparsely distributed as the meatballs on my wife’s pie. The onions were barely detectable, though there was an adequate amount of garlic.
