(WSPA) – The Greenville Police Department is asking residents to stay home if possible after a couple of storm-related crashes were reported in the Upstate.
Officers said crews are continuing to work on restoring outages while schools and businesses are closed due to Tropical Storm Helene. Police said if driving is necessary at this time, drivers should remember to treat non-functioning traffic lights like a four-way stop sign.
Sunday morning, officers responded to a crash and fuel spill on Laurens Road after a driver sped through multiple intersections with failed traffic lights.
No injuries were reported.
Another storm-related crash was also reported Sunday afternoon in Anderson County. The Powdersville Fire Department said injuries were reported after two vehicles collided on Highway 153 at Highway 81.
Victim(s) conditions have not been released at this time.
A fatal storm-related crash was reported in Anderson County this past weekend. 83-year-old Bobby Jean Foster died in a head-on crash on Main Street due to the road being down to one lane due to Helene.
