INDIANAPOLIS — Tempers flaring over a lane change led to a road rage shooting that injured a man on I-465 earlier this month, according to newly filed court documents.
On Sept. 3, Indianapolis police responded to reports about shots fired on the interstate near Michigan Road on the north side of the city. Responding officers found an injured man, who drove himself to a restaurant along 96 th Street, with gunshot wounds to both legs.
The man told detectives he was driving east when a maroon vehicle “cut him off.” The driver said he passed the maroon car, which caught up to him on his right side. That’s when he heard several pops, he told police, and realized he was struck.
One bullet traveled through his right leg and lodged in his left leg, below his knee.
The vehicle had a bulldog sticker on the back, he noted.
On Friday, Indianapolis police arrested a 19-year-old in connection with the shooting. The man faces preliminary charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery, criminal recklessness and marijuana possession.
