ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico United had a lot on the line playing Sacramento Republic FC on Sunday. A win on the road would have clinched the top seed in the USL Championship Western Conference, but United’s hopes at that will have to wait another week, as they lose 4-0.
Sacramento took a 2-nil lead at the half and while United finished with 11 total shots, they would be unable to find the back of the net. Sacramento didn’t slow down in the 2nd half as they scored two more times en route to the clean-sheet victory.
NM United still has 4 more matches remaining in the regular season, and they will be back at home next, hosting Phoenix on Wednesday, October 9.
