Nearly 14,000 cubic yards of sand removed from Gulf Boulevard

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — All FDOT state roads have been opened throughout Tampa Bay after crews removed sand from roadways.

Gulf Boulevard crews removed a total of nearly 14,000 cubic yards of sand from Gulf Boulevard in three days, according to FDOT.

FDOT said Sunday a crew of 125 people removed around 200 loads and 2,400 cubic yards of sand.

Working non-stop, crews were able to get the sand off the roads so residents could return to their homes and businesses to begin rebuilding.
