NY state funding to divert juvenile offenders is tied up in red tape (Your Letters)

I understand the frustration expressed by Councilor Pat Hogan (“Councilor: Westcott Street vandals should face consequences,” Sept. 24, 2024) about the recent break-ins on Westcott Street. While Hogan calls the laws enacted under the Raise The Age (RTA) juvenile justice reform “toothless,” he also notes that there are penalties for young people who commit delinquent acts.
