2024 St. Joseph County Grange Fair ends with strong attendance and a proposal

CENTREVILLE – Organizers of the 2024 St. Joseph County Grange Fair have declared the eight-day event a success.

Fair Board secretary Mindy Timm said aside from rain on the fair’s final day, Sept. 22, and a passing shower Sept. 20, weather was ideal throughout the week.

She said attendance was just shy of the 150,000-person average, but the fair still featured a strong showing. As usual, Kids Day Monday, as well as Friday and Saturday of fair week were the best-attended days.

“The nightly grandstand events seemed to be received pretty well and that’s always important,” she said. “A lot of people look forward to those grandstand attractions, some plan their week around it, and I think we were able to keep people interested in those events this year.”

Sept. 22 was an add-on day for the fair, which typically ends on a Saturday, the seventh day of the fair. Timm said many of the vendors who did not move on to Hillsdale County for the state’s final fair of the year stayed behind for the bonus day.
