- I grew up undocumented in a red state. I now have my dream career after receiving DACA — but my childhood was full of fear. (newsbreak.com)
Javier Quiroz Castro, an undocumented immigrant who came to the US as a child, has been able to pursue a career in nursing thanks to DACA. He credits the program with opening doors for him and allowing him to live without fear of deportation.
Quiroz’s journey to becoming a nurse was not without challenges. He faced discrimination and barriers due to his undocumented status, including difficulty getting into college and obtaining training experience. However, he persevered and eventually earned his nursing degree and license.
Now working as a nurse in Texas, Quiroz is grateful for the opportunity to give back to his community. He believes that more needs to be done to help undocumented immigrants and Dreamers like himself.
Quiroz has been an advocate for DACA and has spoken out against attempts to end the program. He feels forgotten by the government and used as a political pawn.
Despite the challenges he has faced, Quiroz remains optimistic and hopes to become a US citizen one day. He believes that the US needs good people who work hard, and that’s what many undocumented immigrants want to do.
