Coroner ID’s motocyclist killed in crash on Hwy 178

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified a motorcyclist who was killed in a crash on Highway 178 near McCray Road in Lake Isabella on Friday.

Coroner officials say Stephen Michael Prough, 60, of Weldon was the driver of a motorcycle that collided with a truck around 5 p.m. Friday.

Prough was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Prough was traveling eastbound on Highway 178 and the driver of a truck was stopped at a stop sign about to make a westbound turn onto Highway 178 from McCray Road.

The truck and the motorcyclist collided with one another as the truck driver made the turn, CHP said.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
