No bond for both men accused of fatally stabbing daughter, critically injuring mother

Two men arrested in connection with a stabbing that left one woman dead and another with critical injuries will remain in custody without bond until their trial, a judge ruled last week as Hurricane Helene approached Florida’s west coast.

Shad Loveless, 45, and Zachary Williams, 21, both of Fort Myers, face charges of aggravated battery; second-degree murder; and armed home invasion.

Assistant State Attorney Sara Miller filed a motion for pretrial detention for each of the men Sept. 24, which Lee Circuit Judge Nicholas Thompson granted the following day.

Loveless was arrested during a traffic stop, while Williams was arrested near his home, authorities said.

The sheriff’s office received a 911 call around noon Sept. 20 from a woman advising she had been attacked during a robbery.

Detectives and crime scene technicians canvassed the area and learned that two men were seen arriving in the neighborhood at the time of the attack and quickly leaving, the sheriff’s office said.
