Deputies find missing 9-year-old boy from Sibley, Missouri

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was searching for a missing 9-year-old boy from Sibley, Missouri Monday morning.

The sheriff’s office said Liam Smith was found safely a couple of hours after asking for help finding him.

According to deputies, Smith was last seen in the area of North Buckner Tarsney Road and Santa Fe Street — less than a half-mile east of downtown Sibley — at about 6:45 a.m. Monday.

He was described as a 9-year-old white boy with brown hair and blue eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a gray tank top, black or gray shorts, and blue/white Converse shoes.

He was previously found wading in the Missouri River, near Homer’s Landing at 32301 East Atherton Sibley Road .
