Alabama police arrest 26 people in sting operation targeting illegal drug sales

The area included Baltimore Street and Down the Bay areas, according to an MPD release.

News 5’s Kathryn Bruch rode along with Mobile police in the operation and spoke with MPD Capt. Jonathan Lee.

“Drug buys in the south side area of Mobile, primarily Down the Bay,” Lee said. “The first location we’re hitting is not technically located in that area, but this target’s been making drug sales in that area and lives elsewhere.”

The MPD said it conducted the operation because of complaints and information from residents.

The police department’s narcotics and vice unit executed nine search warrants with the help of SWAT, canine detail, gang intelligence and the tactical intelligence detail.

“We locate the different people, different locations, and so we need a variety of things,” Lee said. “We did some direct enforcement through traffic in certain areas that were high in drug volume and made a significant amount of drug arrest there.”
