DC police investigating 2005 shooting as homicide

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said Monday that it would be investigating a 2005 shooting as a homicide.

On Monday, July 18, 2005, MPD responded to the report of a shooting in the 100 block of Wayne Place SE. There, they found a man who had been shot.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Last year, on Oct. 3, 2023, 55-year-old Rodney Dixon, of Southeast D.C. died due to the injuries he sustained 18 years prior.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Maryland ruled his manner of death as a homicide.

Anyone with information is asked to call MPD at (202) 727-9099 or text the department’s tip line at 50411.

A reward of up to $25,000 is offered to anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
