Amarillo gas prices drop 6.3 cents, average $2.70/gallon to end September

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – According to the most recent report from GasBuddy, gas prices in the Amarillo area dropped by 6.3 cents in the last week to reach an average of $2.70/gallon on Monday. Those prices were noted as 6.6 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 77.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

GasBuddy reported that the cheapest station in Amarillo was priced at $2.55/gallon on Sunday while the most expensive was $2.89/gallon, a difference of 34 cents. The lowest price in Texas on Sunday was noted at $1.99/gallon while the highest was $3.59/gallon, a difference of $1.60.

Nationally, the average price of gas rose 1.4 cents in the last week to reach an average of $3.17/gallon on Monday. That national average was down 15.4 cents per gallon from a month ago and 63.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel fell by 1.2 cents to stand at $3.54/gallon.

Gas prices in areas neighboring Amarillo included:

  • Lubbock- $2.68/gallon, up 10.4 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.58/gallon.
  • Midland Odessa- $2.64/gallon, down 12.2 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.76/gallon.
  • Oklahoma- $2.72/gallon, up 5.4 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.67/gallon.
