YOUNGSVILLE, La. ( KLFY ) — In a short and to-the-point meeting, the Youngsville Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board accepted an appeal request from a former police officer who wants their job back.
Former Youngsville police officer Hannah Gentry, 31, was placed on administrative leave without pay after she was arrested by Lafayette police in late June and charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. She was fired from her job toward the end of August.
In her letter of appeal, Gentry claims her termination was not in good faith, violated state law regarding the rights of law enforcement officers under investigation, and was disproportionate to the alleged infraction. She is seeking reinstatement to her job and total compensation for her absence.
After several rescheduled dates, the Youngsville Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board were finally able to meet Monday afternoon at the council chambers.
Gentry’s appeal request was approved although she did not attend the meeting.
