State Bound: Hawkins County runners to vie for state title

ROGERSVILLE — Hawkins County will be well-represented at Saturday’s TMSAA Class A Cross Country State Championships in Clarksville.

The Rogersville City School Lady Warriors are in search of their first state cross country championship, after back-to-back state runner-up finishes. The Lady Warriors will be represented by sectional champion Lilla Harrell, Elin Bryan, Kenady Deal, Anna Mae Boyd, Paisley Lawson, Olivia Sacharnoski and Madeline Webb.

Three local runners, Rogersville Middle School’s Sarah Ward and Travis Wade and Surgoinsville’s Brody Case, will make their first appearances in the state cross country meet. A fourth, Surgoinsville’s Gracie Christian, will make her third straight appearance as an individual state qualifier.

The TMSAA Cross Country State Championships will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, at Weakley Park in Clarksville. Spectator admission is $8 per person in advance on GoFan or $10 cash at the gate.
