East Coast ports shut down effective Tuesday as strike starts

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Tens of thousands of longshoremen went on strike at midnight Tuesday, shutting down major ports along the East and Gulf coasts and choking off deliveries. The state port in Wilmington is just one of many ports where a lockdown is starting. Dockworkers from Maine to Texas already began walking picket lines Tuesday morning.
