Adams will nominate Goode-Trufant for the position of corporation counsel in the New York City Law Department.

The corporation counsel leads the Law Department, which is primarily responsible for providing legal representation for the City of New York.

Goode-Trufant has served as acting corporation counsel since this summer after Sylvia Hinds-Radix stepped down in May.

“Muriel’s record speaks for itself — a dedicated public servant with more than 30 years of experience at the Law Department, a recipient of the agency’s highest honor, and a lawyer who has fought for equity and justice,” Adams said in a statement.

Adams’ previous pick for corporation counsel, Randy Mastro , withdrew his nomination last month following his confirmation hearing with the New York City Council.

Mastro cited the way the New York City Council conducted his hearing as his reason for stepping aside, saying he believes he was never given a fair shot with the line of questioning.
