Car overturned in ‘serious’ accident on I-485 in NW Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Two people are injured from a serious crash on Interstate 485 in northwest Charlotte Tuesday evening.

According to the N.C. Department of Transportation, the incident occurred around 6:25 p.m. Oct. 1 on I-485 Outer near Moores Chapel Road, and the right two lanes are closed at Exit 12 (Moores Chapel).

Medic officials say one person was treated with treated with serious injuries and another with minor injuries; both were transported to Atrium Health CMC.

NCDOT expects the scene to be cleared by 7:30 p.m. As of 6:45 p.m., the traffic on the highway was backed up beyond the Long Creek bridge at mile marker 14.
