FOX23 spoke with more people who said they are victims of Oklahoma’s Department of Human Services.
Keep in mind also, DHS said it will not comment on individual cases.
FOX23 heard from Alexis Fridenberg who spoke about suffering all types of abuse by her adopted family for over a decade.
The court case for her brother Sammy, also called “Dan”, is still playing out in court, but Fridenberg said her story shows failure upon failure by DHS.
She said despite her cries for help, DHS continued to place her in the abusive home that she called a living nightmare.
“I was 4 years old when I was placed with them and it was a living nightmare,” Fridenberg said.
She said the abuse started shortly after that.
“I’m just gonna be honest, I was 8 years old with a gun to the back of my head by Dan, taking me out to our back pasture and him telling me if I ever told anyone about what happened to me, that I would end up missing,” said Fridenberg. “I got sent to go live with Dan and his wife in the middle of the night by my adopted parents after being assaulted by all of his kids because my mom had thrown my head into a plywood wall.”
