Autumn Takes a Backseat as Above-Average Temperatures Persist in Northern Nevada

Reno, NV – The National Weather Service is forecasting well-above-average temperatures to continue throughout the week, signaling an extended summer-like spell for the Reno area.

High pressure is firmly in control of the weather pattern, keeping autumn at bay. Daily high temperatures are expected to soar around 10-15 degrees above normal, with record-breaking highs likely on Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday is predicted to be the warmest day, with a forecasted high of 92 degrees, giving it over an 80% chance of breaking the previous record. Thursday also carries a 50% chance of setting a new record high, with temperatures reaching 91 degrees.

Winds will remain generally light until a weak trough passes through on Friday, bringing increased breeziness to the eastern Sierra crests and western Nevada. However, there are no expectations for precipitation throughout the week, maintaining a dry and warm environment.

Residents are advised to take advantage of the beautiful weather while staying mindful of the unseasonably high temperatures. As the weekend approaches, a slow cooling trend will begin, but temperatures will still remain above average for this time of year.
