Local mayor enters guilty plea in criminal case

CLEVELAND (WJW) – Warrensville Heights Mayor Brad Sellers changed his plea in court Wednesday.

Mayor Sellers was indicted on charges including tampering with records and petty theft.

He previously pleaded not guilty to the charges and has remained on the job as mayor.

Wednesday morning, Sellers changed his plea to guilty on both charges.

“I accept responsibility for the issue at hand,” Sellers told the judge.

The judge sentenced him to one year of probation.

The FOX 8 I-Team began investigating Sellers’ tax issues in 2018.

According to the I-Team , the charges related to a city document that gave him a tax abatement, which is a tax break on his property in the city he governs.

Sellers has not responded to FOX 8’s requests for comment.
