Brushy Creek Community High Speed Chase Leads to Arrest

On September 26th, 2024, a vehicle approaching a routine safety checkpoint in the Brushy Creek community refused to stop, leading deputies with George County Sheriff’s Office to become involved in a high speed chase.

The driver led the officers in a chase down multiple roadways before ultimately stopping in the Sanford Drive area and attempting to flee on foot. A short foot chase ensued before the suspect was apprehended by deputies.

The driver, identified as Joseph Holloway, was arrested and is currently being held at the George County Regional Corrrectional Facility. He faces multiple charges, which includedisorderly contect and failure to comply, fleeing and eluding law enforcement in a motor vehicle, no tag, no driver’s license, no proof of liability insureance, reckless driving, two counts of driving on teh wrong side of the roadway, six counts of improper turning, and four counts of a disregard for traffice device.

According to a press release from George County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Mitchell Mixon praised the deputies for their response, emphasizing the importance of public safety and commending the ongoing efforts nationwide to enforce traffic laws.
