“High Lonesome Mass” to be performed by Oak Ridge church’s choirs, bluegrass band

On Sunday, Oct. 6 at 8:45 and 11 a.m., the choirs of First United Methodist Church will present “Come Away to the Skies: A High Lonesome Mass.” This Mass in bluegrass style will be accompanied by the award-winning Chuck Nation Band from Murrayville, Georgia near Atlanta.

Members of the band boast multiple titles in state competitions throughout the Southeast, according to a church news release.

Everyone is invited to attend this free performance at First United Methodist Church, located at 1350 Oak Ridge Turnpike.

The Chuck Nation Band made their Carnegie Hall debut performance in New York City in 2015. They have performed in concert at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. They were 2016 Georgia Music Awards nominees for Artist Of The Year.

Chuck is a member of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame, a three-time Georgia State Fiddle Champion, Georgia State Mandolin Champion, and a Louisiana State Fiddle Champion. The band has been called “the South’s best Bluegrass band.”
