Mobile man sentenced for possessing firearm as previously convicted felon

MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A Mobile man was sentenced to two years in prison for possessing a firearm as a previously convicted felon, according to the United States Department of Justice.

A Mobile police officer arrested 27-year-old Brandon Reed following a traffic stop on Jan. 5, 2023.

Reed was operating a vehicle with a revoked license and a switched tag.

A search of the vehicle revealed he had a firearm, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Reed was ultimately indicted for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and he pled guilty to the charge.

United States District Court Judge Jeffrey U. Beaverstock sentenced Reed to two years in prison, which will be followed by three years of supervised release.
