A man faces life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in the Original Highlands neighborhood early Wednesday morning.

Louisville Metro Police stated Fifth Division officers responded to calls of a car hitting a pedestrian in the 900 block of Baxter Avenue at around 2:13 a.m.

The preliminary investigation indicates the man was walking west and crossed Baxter Avenue from Morton Avenue without using a crosswalk, LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said. He was then struck by a vehicle traveling north on Baxter Avenue.

Involved parties stayed at the scene, Mitchell said, and the man hit was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital for life-threatening injuries.
