An Indianapolis mother is grieving the senseless loss of her daughter, who was shot and killed during an armed robbery just days before turning 19.
On Sunday, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police responded to a call of a person shot in the 5900 block of Riva Ridge Drive. When they arrived they found 18-year-old Makayla Sue Bauman shot. She was taken to a local hospital in critical condition where she later died, IndyStar reported.
An investigation found that the shooting took place at an apartment complex a mile from where the call came in. Makayla was hanging out with her brother when someone tried to rob him, her mother Jennifer Bauman, said

Bauman and her brother fled the complex in a car after an attempted robbery and discovered she’d been shot while driving to their home less than 2 miles away. “They didn’t know she was shot until after they got out of the apartment complex,” Bauman said. “My son was just trying to make it to where she could come home to me to help them.”
