Motorists who use Interstate 80 to commute from Placer County toward Sacramento and beyond should plan for detours this weekend and next as back-to-back 55-hour shutdowns come to two key Roseville freeway entrances.
The westbound I-80 onramp at Douglas Boulevard will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. Friday as crews continue freeway work for a $46.1 million project to construct an auxiliary and fifth lane, Caltrans District 3 said in a news release.
According to Caltrans , a fifth lane is being built on westbound I-80 between Douglas Boulevard and Riverside Avenue, and the work includes restructuring the Douglas off-ramp from two lanes to one.
Drivers looking to enter the freeway from eastbound Douglas Boulevard will be detoured to Sunrise Avenue before making a right turn onto Cirby Way and a left turn onto Riverside Avenue to make it onto westbound I-80.
With the temporary weekend, Caltrans cautioned drivers to be attentive as roadway workers excavate a portion of the freeway while installing new lighting and repaving the ramp.
