A specialized K9 team leaves Boone County for North Carolina in the wake of Hurricane Helene. On Tuesday, Missouri Task Force 1 received activation orders from FEMA to deploy seven Human Remains Detection K9s to North Carolina. The K9 team and their handlers left the Boone County Fire Protection District headquarters around noon yesterday. They will travel to the St. Louis airport to catch a flight to Charlotte, North Carolina. They’re set to receive mission assignments today.
