On Sept. 14, 16-year-old Peter Hyman Jr. was shot and killed outside the Red Robin at the Citrus Park Mall.

Detectives learned during an investigation that an argument occurred between two groups of boys following a planned “slap boxing” event in a parking garage, according to Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

In the testimony, it showed that Oquendo bragged about the shooting to friends via text messages and social media, according to the Office of the State Attorney, 13th Judicial Circuit.

Oquendo is facing charges that include murder in the second degree, a minor in possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.
