Evans man, Martinez woman call deputies to report stolen Harris-Walz campaign signs

Two Columbia County residents recently filed police reports in separate incidents involving thefts of Harris-Walz campaign signs.

A 63-year-old Evans man called the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office on Monday to report a burglary, according to an incident report.

The man told deputies someone stole two signs from his yard, according to the report. One sign said “Kamala Harris for President” and the other said “Vote for the prosecutor not the felon.”

Deputies noted the man said both signs were still there after Hurricane Helene rolled through the area, according to the report.

The man told deputies he would like to prosecute if the person or people who allegedly took the sign are found, according to the report.

On Sept. 22, a Martinez woman called the sheriff’s office after her Harris-Walz campaign sign was allegedly stolen from her front yard.

The 56-year-old woman told deputies that her neighbor told her she saw four boys on a golf cart near her house and they “may be responsible” for stealing the sign, according to an incident report.
