Covenant Children’s kicks off Champions for Children campaign

Covenant Children’s kicked off its Champions for Children campaign Tuesday, encouraging shoppers in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico to give a little to make a lot of impact.

The fourth-annual fundraising campaign runs through Oct. 16 at United Supermarkets locations and a number of other participating businesses. Guests inside the stores can donate as little as $1 at the register in exchange for a kite to write their name on and hang inside the business.

Proceeds from the two-week campaign go directly to support the Covenant Children’s Emergency Department, the hospital said.

“This year we have 50 business partner locations scattered across our region, here in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico, to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children,” Covenant Health Foundation Chairman Brice Foster said during a news conference Tuesday. “By supporting and sharing this campaign, we’re doing more than raising funds. We’re advocating for the future of children here in West Texas.”
