Peabody School Students Cook Up Plan to Cut Waste in Cafeteria

A group of fifth-graders at Peabody Charter School has taken a significant step toward promoting environmental sustainability in their cafeteria. In May the students wrote letters to Superintendent/Principal Demian Barnett and Food Service director Hallie Ingram, expressing their concerns about the extensive use of single-use plastic utensils, particularly plastic sporks, in the school’s cafeteria.
