The NYPD has made a promise to New Yorkers that they will be safe in New York City. Counterterrorism units are deployed across the five boroughs, an increased police presence is seen on almost every block near a house of worship and K-9 units will be utilized. The NYPD and Jewish leaders tell News 12 they are ready. The number of hate crimes and violence against the Jewish community has skyrocketed in the borough since Hamas’ Oct. 7 attacks on Israel, according to a report released by the state comptroller’s office. Safety is not something that Rabbi Isaac Tawil wants to come between him and his hundreds of congregants this holiday. Across the borough in Clinton Hill, Rabbi Yossi Eliav and his team are taking the same approach. “Think good, and it will be good,” he says. For extra precautions, the 88th Precinct is out patrolling the area around Chabad of Clinton Hill and Pratt. The rabbi also says they have safety measures in place that will not be publicized.
