Second suspect accused in east Charlotte homicide arrested in Texas

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The suspect sought in an east Charlotte homicide was found and arrested in Texas, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says.

On Wednesday, 34-year-old Ramon Alexi Santos Funes was arrested in Orange County, Texas by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Funes was wanted in connection to the murder of Khyre’ Jamaal Grier on September 26.

Officers with CMPD were called to the 1700 block of Eastcrest Drive for a welfare check and found Grier dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Shortly after, 49-year-old Fabio Herminio Funes was arrested and charged in the case.

Detectives with CMPD’s Homicide Unit will travel to Orange County to interview and extradite Funes back to Mecklenburg County.
