DPS to offer statewide driver license appointments in October

TEXAS (KMID/KPEJ) – The Texas Department of Safety will be offering Saturday appointments at select driver license offices through the end of October, according to a release on Wednesday.

DPS said participating offices, located in all regions of Texas, will be open for half days each Saturday through the end of the month to serve additional customers needing driver license or identification car renewal or replacement services by appointment only. This include the Midland Driver License Office, which will be open for appointments between 8:30 am and 1:00 pm on October 5 and October 12.

According to a release by DPS, while Saturday appointments in September filled quickly, many customers with appointments failed to show up or cancel, resulting in a no-show rate for Saturday appointments for the month being around 30 percent. The Department said no shows have a large negative impact on the number of customers the department is able to serve.
