Springfield implements new policy for city commission meetings

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio ( WDTN ) — In an effort to prioritize local voices, Springfield has implemented a new policy for future city commission meetings.

Effective immediately, only residents of Clark County will be permitted to speak during the public comment portion of the meetings.

Speakers must complete a comment card and present valid proof of residency to participate. This may include an Ohio Driver’s License or state ID card.

Officials say this change will help minimize distractions and misrepresentation of the community. They say this new policy aims at enhancing community engagement while ensuring decisions made by the commission reflect the needs and interests of Springfield residents specifically.

All Springfield residents are encouraged to attend and speak at the meetings.
