The Florida Gators have all sorts of question marks regarding head coach Billy Napier. Despite a disappointing 2-2 start, Napier is still the coach at Florida, although it seems to be a matter of time before Scott Stricklin makes a change.
Plenty of candidates have been linked to the Florida opening, with top names such as James Franklin, Eli Drinkwitz, and Lane Kiffin all previously mentioned by national reporters.
In Week 5, Kiffin and Ole Miss lost a stunner against Kentucky in Oxford, and as a result, the Kiffin-Florida rumblings have picked up once again, per a report from Matt Hayes of USA Today.
“Deny it all you want, everyone. This shotgun marriage now has momentum,” Hayes wrote.
Later on, Hayes also wrote, “If ever a coach and a program were destined for each other, this is it.” He also wrote, “Deny it all you want, the fuse has been lit on this looming shotgun marriage. It’s only a matter of timing.”
While there is nothing firm or set in stone, it is certainly a rumor that continues to circulate and will for the next month or so.
