A GOP candidate says he’s “not worried about Black people” amid his bid for Congress.
In new audio obtained by HuffPost , John Lee , who’s running for a seat in Nevada’s 4th Congressional District, mocked his Democratic challenger, Rep. Steven Horseford , for being chair of the Congressional Black Caucus .
“They made him chair of the Black Caucus. Whoop-de-doo,” Lee said during a campaign meet-and-greet last week. “I’m from North Las Vegas. I’m not worried about Black people. You know?”
The GOP candidate attacked the Congressional Black Caucus for only having Democratic members. Though the caucus is nonpartisan, all of its current members are Democrats and does not include five Black Republicans.
“So they’re the most racist people in the world,” Lee said. “They have one objective, and that is for self-domination in Congress.”
This isn’t the first time Lee has attacked the Congressional Black Caucus. In November, Lee called the caucus “stupid,” and in August he compared it to having “a blond-haired caucus.”
