Students with excessive absences set to be referred to Jefferson County Attorney’s Office for review

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – JCPS is beginning the mandatory referral process to the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office (JCAO) for students with 15 or more unexcused absences. The recently enacted HB 611 says students throughout Kentucky who accumulate 15 or more unexcused absences will be referred to their local County Attorney’s office. Unexcused absences are those that are not reported to a school or when a student does not produce a valid reason for missing school.
