Rockford man accused of cutting woman, child with knife and box cutter granted pre-trial release

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) – A Rockford man accused of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm to a child and the child’s mother was released was from jail Tuesday after a detention hearing in front of Judge Amy Peterman.

According to police, the alleged battery unfolded Monday, Sept. 30, at Bauer Park in Machesney Park when 35-year-old Anthony Sarabia hit the adult female with a toy shovel and punched her in the face.

Sarabia is also accused of injuring both victims with a pocketknife and boxcutter.

He was arrested Sept. 30 in the 600 block of Garfield Avenue.

Sarabia is also charged with possessing a firearm without valid FOID. He is due back in court on Nov. 13.
