Himbola Manor Apartments must make repairs by Jan. 31 or face more fines

LAFAYETTE, La. ( KLFY ) — Himbola Manor Apartments has until Jan. 31 to complete all repairs before daily fines begin.

At an adjudication hearing last month , the complex was fined more than $30,000 for violating city code ordinances. During that hearing, Kathy Trahan, with the Louisiana Consolidated Government, said that of the 132 original violations, 103 remain. Trahan said 29 violations were completely cured and 17 were partially cured.

In a hearing today, Himbola’s attorney, Eric Pullen, said the complex will begin making repairs no later than Oct. 14.

Himbola Apartments given more time to make repairs

Pullen said the complex received bids for plumbing and roofing contractors. That work is estimated to take 45-60 days to complete.

Progress has not been made on mold remediation, Pullen said, because the apartment complex is waiting on a moisture map procedure to be completed, which was requested by HUD. Once that procedure is complete, they will get a bid fro a mold remediator.
