Polk County’s latest Jan. 6 suspect is released after arrest. Court date set for Oct. 17

Christopher Madison, a Winter Haven man arrested Monday on charges related to the U.S. Capitol attack, is scheduled for a first court appearance by video teleconference Oct. 17 before Magistrate Judge Moxila A. Upadhyaya.

Madison, 36, was released after his arrest without bond under pretrial conditions, such as surrendering his passport and weapons. He is not subject to GPS monitoring, as some Jan. 6 defendants have been.

Madison is charged with knowingly entering a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restrictive building or grounds; entering and remaining in certain rooms in a Capitol building; disorderly conduct in a Capitol building or grounds; and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building.
